GUN BUYING FAQ

To purchase a long gun or rifle, you must:

Be a California Resident
Have a California Real ID*
Possesses a current FSC (Firearm Safety Certificate)**

To purchase a handgun, you must:

Be a California Resident
Have a California Real ID*
Possesses a current FSC (Firearm Safety Certificate)**
Have proof of California Residency (Only one is required)
     – Vehicle Registration
     – PG&E Bill or SMUD Bill
     – Property Tax (not tied to a trust)
     – Cable Bill
     – Lease Agreement

* If the address on the ID doesn’t match, we need two proofs of residency. Current and previous residency within 90 days of the last billing cycle.

** If you do not have a Firearm Safety Certificate, we can Administer the test in-house. The Certificate is valid for five years.

If you do not have a Real California ID you need:

Your previous California ID and only one additional proof of residency which can be:
     – Your Passport
     – Birth Certificate
     – Resident Alien Card

Handguns Certified for Sale in California

The Department of Justice has a California-approved roster list of handguns. You can search the list of Handguns Certified for Sale on the Office of the Attorney General website.

All Transfers 

Firearm Transfers
Platnium-Members $125 (Includes background check fee)
All Other Members & Non-Members $147.19  (Includes background check fee, does not include taxes)
If purchased through SGR (special orders), there are no transfer fees, only background check fees ($47.19)

Ammo Transfers
$50 per 1000 rounds transferred, tax fee not included.
If purchased through SGR (special orders), there are no transfer fees, only background check fees ($5)

Firearm Parts & Tool Transfers
$50 per transfer.
If purchased through SGR (special orders), there are no transfer fees.
